The Crooked Brothers – Deathbed Pillowtalk

  • June 1, 2010

Winnipeg’s The Crooked Brothers finds Matt Foster and Darwin Baker (SubCity Dwellers) and Jesse Matas joining forces to create a gritty mix of blues, bluegrass and country. On Deathbed Pillowtalk, the Crooked Brothers croon gruff three-part harmonies over acoustic instrumentation that includes: banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobro, harmonica, baby grand piano, handclaps and assorted percussion – iron rail, beer bottles. Foster, Baker and Matas take turns on lead vocals on this stellar collection of bluesy country, hushed hymns, barroom laments complete with old time melodies and traditional themes like life, death, loss, and loneliness. – Written by JFelton
