Anyone yearning for ‘80s retro, soft rock, smooth jams – look no further. Indie collective from Minnesota Gayngs has released Relayted, an intriguing album of lite tracks that sound tailor made for a junior high makeout party. Band ringleader Ryan Olsen of Digitata rounded up over 20 artists from the indie world, including Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Megafaun, Zack Coulter and Adam Hurlburt of Solid Gold, and members of the Rosebuds and Leisure Birds. While many songs immediately make this writer think of a Nagel print and a tiger-skin rug, the album walks a fine line between hipster irony and an interesting fusion of old and new, which makes Relayted relevant for young and old alike. – Written by DBosket
