Hailing from Winnipeg, The Telepathic Butterflies have released their fourth album, Wow & Flutter! on the Rainbow Quartz label. Composed of Jacques Dubois, Réjean Ricard, Russ Kroeker, and Rob Pachol, The Telepathic Butterflies excel at playing power pop that has hints of garage rock and Brit Invasion thrown in. The retro sound of Wow & Flutter! for the most part is great, while some songs have shades of early Weezer, but with less gloss and shine. It’s pretty hard to find a song on the album that doesn’t elicit a toe tap. If I had to describe this band in eight words, they would be: The Kinks-meets-King Khan-meets Foo Fighters.
