The Fling – When The Madhouses Appear

  • August 17, 2010

Long Beach, CA’s The Fling marks the end of summer with the August 31st release of When the Madhouses Appear on their self-run label Lady Monk Records. The Fling toe the line between the old and the modern in their folk induced shoegaze that has touches of psychedelia, layers of vocal harmonization and bouts of anthemic pop that harken back to The Band, Beach Boys and The Beatles as well as Fruit Bats and Ha Ha Tonka. Dustin Lovelis (lead vocals) crew also bust out some great songwriting whether it is on the instrumental flourishes in “Wanderingfoot” or group harmonizing on No Sleep” and “Dry the Rain”. When the Madhouses Appear is a brilliant record perfect lazy day barbeques and hanging out. – Written by JFelton
