Michigan’s lovably quirky indie folk act Breathe Owl Breathe capped off a successful summer of live appearances with their fourth release Magic Central. The art school trio – Micah Middaugh (vocals, guitar), Andrea Moreno-Beals (vocals, cello), and Trevor Hobbs (percussion) – named the album after their home, a cabin in the Michigan woods; a title that also aptly describes the album itself. Rich with imagery of the natural world and mystical landscapes, their songs captivate with their sincerity and playfulness. Middaugh and Moreno-Beals’ vocal harmonies are stunningly sweet, Middaugh’s bass complimenting Moreno-Beals’ soprano, all the while weaved together in finely textured tunes with their instrumentation.
