Creeping Weeds – See Through

  • March 17, 2011

Four years since their 2007 debut We Are All Part of A Dream You’re Having, Creeping Weeds has come back with See Through – 11 tracks of off-kilter psychedelic swirls, tight guitar riffs, sly tempo changes, and beautiful harmonies all sharing a common laid-back vibe and delivery. Based in Philadelphia, this five-piece comprising Pete Stewart, Justin Seitz, Chris Wirtalla, Kate Stewart and Cara Stewart have a clear knack for writing complex, satisfying songs that have a great sense of balance and equity with no one element overpowering the other. Part Modest Mouse (“(Wrapped In) Gauze”), part Midlake (“Hole In the Wall” has some nice Renn-faire guitar work), and part Pas/Cal (Am-radio worthy harmonies), each song on See Through has an interesting hook, a soothing harmony and an unexpected rhythmic shift that never gets boring. – Written by DBosket
