Fujiya and Miyagi – Ventriloquizzing

  • January 21, 2011

Brighton, U.K.-based four-piece Fujiya and Miyagi are back with their fourth full-length, Ventriloquizzing, comprising 11 slick, synth-heavy tracks lorded over by hushed, calm vocals. Mixing funk basslines, dark atmospheric effects, and a constant mid-tempo dance beat, Ventriloquizzing lives somewhere between a dance album and a chill out record, and that is something either you will love or have difficulty with. This writer is still unsure, but on a track-by-track basis, these are well-crafted songs that rank among some of their best. “Yo Yo” is one of the more upbeat songs about the changing nature of a particular person and “Universe” makes great use of choral background vocals and some funky old school keyboard effects. – Written by DBosket
