Following July 2010’s Good Old Horse EP, Gwyneth & Monko – Gwyneth Moreland (vocals) and Michael Monko (multi-instrumental) – are debuting their self-titled full length on February 15th. Recorded on weekends between tours in the Old School Studio, which is just up the Pacific coast from their home base of San Francisco, Gwyneth & Monko’s Americana informed brand of old-timey acoustic folk / rock is backed this time by Matt Cooper Borkenhagen (dobro, pedal steel), Jimmy Gallagher (drums), and Scott Southard (bass). Monko, who was a heavy rock bassist in previous bands, adds a surprisingly unique but complimentary sound to Moreland’s sentimental narrative lyrics.
