Hackensaw Boys – A Fireproof House of Sunshine

  • October 24, 2019

Virginian Americana/roots band The Hackensaw Boys follow-up 2016’s Charismo with a striking five-song EP, A Fireproof House of Sunshine. Joining founding member David Sickmen in a new line-up is Beau Dodson (percussion), Chris Stevens (bass), and Caleb Powers (fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and vocals). The album was produced by Rob Evans (Dave Matthews Band) and recorded over a four-day period this past December at Haunted Hollow Studio in Charlottesville, Virginia. A Fireproof House of Sunshine is a collection of original songs that are warm and offer a bit of sunshine amidst the dark political times we are experiencing in this country. Notable tracks include: the rollicking, country-punk number “Late Night Kitchen”; the lovely ballad “Pass Unloving Eyes”; the working man’s song “Factory Blues”; and a feel-good track, “Let’s Take Us a Night Ride.” The Hackensaw Boys have been making great music for twenty years, and A Fireproof House of Sunshine effortlessly shows the many reasons for such longevity and success. – Written by JFelton
