Lost in the Trees – All Alone in An Empty House

  • September 8, 2010

Lost in the Trees is the creative vehicle of frontman/composer/songwriter Ari Picker, who merges symphonic elements of classical music with folk and indie pop melodies, creating unique a sound that is intimate while being sonically experimental. This Chapel Hill collective’s lush sophomore album, All Alone in an Empty House was originally released in 08 on the small local indie label Trekky Records, but has since been reworked by acclaimed North Carolina producer Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Spoon, St. Vincent) and re-released by L.A.’s Anti Records. This year’s reissue is a bit more polished and includes additional material, resulting in an album of sometimes bitter, sometimes melancholy, but always lushly textured compositions. The songwriting is also top-notch, ranging from parental issues to separation and settling, to abuse and death and is sure to be an indie favorite this year. – Written by JFelton
