The Mountains & The Trees (a.k.a. singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jon Janes) makes his full-length debut with the impressive “I Made This For You” of multi-layered folk, rock, country, and Americana. I Made This For You features Janes’ hushed, charming vocals and a vast variety of instrumentation including: guitar, drums, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, bells, trumpet, organ, lapsteel, melodica, mellotron, violin, cello, flute, bodhrán, and even handclaps. The opening track “Fear of Ghosts” begins gently but builds into a spirited romp featuring prominent tuba, “Travellin’ Song” is a toe-tappin’ country ditty, and “More & More & More” takes the traveling vibe across the vast expanse of America. The rest of the album is more delicate with subtle folk melodies and touches of bluegrass instrumentation – definitely worth adding to your playlist. – Written by JFelton
