The Radio Dept. – Clinging To a Scheme

  • December 13, 2010

For whatever reason I wasn’t able to review this earlier in the year, but I’ve really enjoyed The Radio Dept.’s springtime electro/dream-pop release Clinging To A Scheme. The Swedish band is back with their first full-length in four years, and arguably their best set of songs to date despite the comings and goings of some of the main members of the group. At 34 minutes it is a tight set of songs rife with melancholy and layers of new wave, trip-hop, dream pop and ambient guitars as well as the occasional horns and synth. Notable tracks include “Heaven’s on Fire”, “This Time Around”, and closer “I Wanna Come Closer.” – Written by JFelton
