The Russians – Crashing The Party

  • August 23, 2010

After two years and two critically acclaimed EPs, Scott Janovitz and his musical collective The Russians debut their full-length out of the Cambridge, MA Moontower Studio. Crashing The Party involves a veritable who’s who of Boston pop stars and backing musicians of the 90’s and 00’s including Mike Gent (The Figgs, Death Vessel, Juliana Hatfield), Mike Piehl (Letters to Cleo, Martin Sexton), Rob Dulaney (Sarah Borges), and Russell Chudnofsky (Lori McKenna) for a diverse collection of smart, breezy pop songs. With over 15 musicians, multi-instrumentalists and production staff, Crashing the Party revels in catchy tracks full of heavy guitars, plenty of hooks and melodies that reflect eclectic sonic-electronic takes on old and new Brit pop a la The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Phil Spector, Teenage Fanclub and American pop along the lines of Big Star and the Shins. – Written by JFelton
