The Sheepdogs – Learn and Burn

  • August 20, 2010

With a purely 60’s/70’s retro sound along the lines of the Allman Brothers, Led Zepplin and Grateful Dead, Canadian rockers The Sheepdogs crank out spont on classic rock riffs on Learn and Burn. The Sheepdogs have a unique flair for nailing different styles like the Beatle-esque “Please Don’t Lead Me On” but they are at their best in full fledged 70’s Southern rock mode like on opener “The One You Belong To” and “Catfish 2 Boogaloo” which feature jamming electric guitar riffs and references to Facebook. Also notable is their beautiful vocal harmonizing, which to the benefit of listeners, appears on every song. The striking transition from the acoustic “Suddenly” into the four song closing medley that crescendos into a wall of sound from full instrumental backing of horns and saxophones makes for a good solid rock record through and through. – Written by SMarx
