Spectrals – Extended Play

  • November 10, 2010

Young Leeds based musician Louis Jones pays homage to the genius of early 60’s Phil Spector in both name (Spectrals) and spirit on Extended Play. This seven track collection of lo-fi garage pop rock is a reverb heavy blend of 60’s/70’s soul, Motown, doo-wop and The Beach Boys. Recorded entirely on analog in a local studio, standouts include the sunny opener “Dip Your Toe In”, the dreamy “Chip a Tooth (Spoil a Smile)”, and the beach pop and twang laden “7th Date.” Extended Play is an innocuous set of songs – pleasant background music that captures the sound of an era. – Written by JFelton
