White Denim – Performance

  • September 21, 2018

White Denim is out with their tenth album in a decade – Performance – the follow-up to 2016’s Stiff. The band consisting of James Petralli (vocals, guitar), Conrad Choucroun (drums), Steven Terebecki (vocals, bass), and Michael Hunter (keyboards) continues to skillfully blend elements of dub, psych rock, blues, punk, prog rock, soul and jazz into a continually catchy batch of retro inflected indie rock. Album highlights include: the T. Rex-esque first single, “Magazin”; the freak-out rocker “Fine Slime”; the grimy “Moves On”; the scorching “It Might Get Dark”; the funky soul kissed “Double Death”; and the clever, slow-moving jam “Sky Beaming.” White Denim remains as playful as ever on Performance, and longtime fans are sure to be satisfied. – Written by JFelton
