Blonde Summer, a name perfectly fitting for a band from Los Angeles, includes singer Chris Pope, guitarist Matt Reid, bassist Chris Livingstone and drummer Stephen Kurshner. These four play their own blend of indie rock that has a dash of the Pixies mixed with a little Sea Wolf and some Band of Horses. On “Cathode Ray” and “Silver Jesus,” Blonde Summer shows they can do guitar-driven melodic rock with some pretty great results, while “Silver Tongue” has an epic My Morning Jacket arena rock quality that has a confident, full sound you don’t always hear in debut EPs.
