Old Calf – Borrow A Horse

  • April 27, 2011

Charlottesville, VA based musician Ned Oldham (formerly of Palace Music and The Anomoanon, and brother of Will Oldham / Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy), recently released his new band’s debut full-length Borrow a Horse. Old Calf, whose name is derived from founders OLDham and Marty MetCALFe (accordion), is also joined by latest bandmates Michael Clem (bass) and Brian Caputo (percussion). Steeped in traditional American music, the album explores Appalachian roots, folk, rock and bluegrass with simple arrangements and modest yet beautiful instrumentation. Standout tracks include “There Are Men in the Village of Erith”, “A Gift, A Ghost/Monday Alone”, and “What Did I Dream.” – Written by JFelton
