Jerry David DeCicca – Burning Daylight

  • November 19, 2018

Earlier this year, Texas singer/songwriter Jerry David DeCicca released his excellent second solo album Time the Teacher – a country/folk album reflecting on home, place and the simple things in life. So it’s a real treat to get another album from DeCicca in the same year. The eleven songs that make up DeCicca’s third solo release, Burning Daylight, share some of the naturalistic qualities of the former but takes on more of a raw heartland rock vibe. It’s an album about being connected to the real world around you and not on a what’s on a screen. Album highlights include: the opening track “Cactus Flower”; the uptempo “Dead Man’s Shoes”; “I Watched You Pray” which expresses gratitude for a friend’s faith; the country rocker “Bed of Memories”; and the ode to a good bar “Devil’s Backbone Bar.” Burning Daylight is another excellent album from a talented musician which also pays tribute to influential artists like Lou Reed, Warren Zevon, Graham Parker, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen. – Written by JFelton
