Radiohead – The King of Limbs

  • April 9, 2011

Announced abruptly in mid-February, Radiohead’s eighth album The King of Limbs was first released as a download through their website and more recently on CD and vinyl in stores. At 37 minutes, The King of Limbs is an efficient album with 8 tracks that really showcase drummer Phil Selway’s talents and shares more in common with Kid A or Amnesiac than their last release, In Rainbows. Radiohead continues to push themselves musically on their own terms, and the freedom they have to do so results in complex, satisfying music. The rhythms and beats in lead-off track “Bloom” and “Morning Mr. Magpie” are chaotic, frenetic and utterly hypnotic. Combine that with Thom Yorke’s eerie falsetto and bam! It’s pretty hard to resist. “Lotus Flower” is perhaps the song that reminds of In Rainbows the most, with a greater focus on Yorke’s vocals and a steady syncopated beat. The King of Limbs is yet another solid and intriguing addition to their catalog. – Written by DBosket
